Coonbay Country Club

CoonBay Country Club Members

We want to thank you for your patience these last four and a half months. As you know, we have received the special permit by the Putnam County Zoning Board on July 18, 2007. We could not reopen the range until the 30 day appeal period ended. There was no appeal filed.

There are a few changes for members to be aware of from the Zoning Board decision.
  • The range will only be opened three (3) days per week. The days are Friday, Saturday, and Mondays. This may change in the future we will notify you ahead of time.
  • Members must sign-in and sign-out when using the ranges. Also, we ask that you indicate what activity you engage in each time. This requirement will help us to possibly open more days in the future.
  • We ask that you pick up your shells on the sporting clay range, pistol and rifle ranges after shooting. A positive point noted at the meeting was the range was very clean.
  • Member's annual membership will be deferred the four months we were closed down. For example, if your annual dues were due in June, now they will become due in October.

Range Description

Coon Bay Country Club Sporting Clay and Rifle Range is situated at Barnard Farms, a 240 acre farm and timber operation in Hollister, Florida, a rural area two miles south of Highway 20 and ten miles west of Palatka, Florida.

The location of the range is unique due to the 8000 acre state game preserve just south of Coon Bay Country Club. Early in the morning, before shooting starts, you can take a golf cart tour of the farm and see turkey, deer and other game feeding.

The sporting clay setting is a 40 acre wooded area with ten shooting stations and a 100 shot range. The range has all presentations including rabbits, batu’s, spring & teal, dove and quail. The range is changed regularly to improve shooting pleasure and challenges.

We feature all automatic throwing machines. Coonbay plans to eventually expand south to an additional 80 acre wooded area for a second range.

Pistol Range

A pistol range is positioned adjacent to the sporting clay range. A man-made U-shaped berm area has been built to insure safety. A fifty foot covered area includes ten shooting stations. The target area is 25-100 feet from the shooting bench. The shaded area provides comfort from the hot sun as you shoot.

Rifle Range

The rifle range is located on the southeast section of the farm. This 350 yard range will test your long shots. Targets are set from 25 to 350 yards from the shooting tables.
